NETIZENS PRAISE SHEN YUE FOR BEING DOWN-TO-EARTH IN INTERVIEW ABOUT HER LIFE ~ weibo-talk

[Shen Yue: After waking up, I am still me] At about 8 o'clock in the morning, Shen Yue got up, did her makeup, and prepared for an interview at 9 o'clock. She didn't wear much, and looked unusually thin among the snow and ice of Arxan. Then we sat down, and talked about her life.

The interview took place during the last recording of The Inn, where it was -25 degrees Celsius outside. The interviewer was freezing, and all the staff members were shivering too. When the interviewer saw Shen Yue approaching, the first thing they asked her was whether she was cold. Shen Yue said "I'm not cold" without hesitation.

In 2014, Shen Yue was in her last year of high school, facing the biggest obstacle of her life: the gaokao (T/N: University examinations). Since her lucky colour was yellow, Shen Yue wore yellow from head to toe, and stood out like a walking SpongeBob among her classmates. She laughs as she retells this story, and says that she is really superstitious.

Shen Yue took part in the art exam and took first place in her province, which meant as long as her language classes went well, she would have no trouble getting into university. (T/N: The art exam is separate from the normal exams since it is for students who wish to go into acting, drawing, directing, etc. Instead of being tested on all school subjects, those who wish to pursue an artistic route are only required to focus on their language grades).

When September came around, Shen Yue successfully enrolled in Hunan Normal University, and wanted to pursue studies for directing. When she interned at Hunan TV station, she was welcomed for her sweet looks. In second year, she fell in love with filming, and by chance had to fill in for a model. She was discovered and signed with a company. Shen Yue says: "I really do believe in fate, everything is predestined. How else would someone common like me, become a celebrity?"

She says the best thing about being a celebrity is being able to help her friends fangirl. While filming Meteor Garden, she didn't get to go home for New Years. She huddled together with F4, each of them sending New Years wishes to their friends. Her friends who were fans also got wishes from the boys. Her friends were super happy, and Shen Yue was happy too.

When asked if being a celebrity is troublesome, Shen Yue says that some things you don't want to do but have to. Other times people don't want to get to know you and will say that everything you do is fake. She used to search up herself online but doesn't do it anymore since there are more and more negative comments. But Shen Yue's mom still searches her up, and will call her to ask if she is feeling down. Although her mom thinks she is pretending, Shen Yue says she is actually very happy.

When she has free time, Shen Yue likes to visit her friends and watch shows together. With nothing else to do, sometimes she will chat with her friends outside until 10 at night. She doesn't drink, doesn't like to go clubbing, doesn't like loud places, and prefers browsing bookstores.

Nothing much has changed, except that now she has more money so usually she will pay the bill for her friends. The interviewer is surprised Shen Yue brought up the topic of money on her own, but to Shen Yue earning more money is a means to give a better life for her friends and family, nothing to avoid talking about.

Shen Yue thinks everything is going well, although there are negative comments, as a whole she is happy. She is healthy, her family is healthy, and she is able to earn money so that she can give more people better lives. Although she just wants to lay around all day, when there is a job she will do it seriously. The interview ended, and wearing her thin coat she ran out. At 9 o'clock she had a shoot to do, and had work until 10 at night. Afterwards she would play on her phone until 12, and go to bed.

Later, a staff member says to the interviewer: Shen Yue is really honest. The interviewer thinks her honesty comes from the fact that she is still in the process of integrating into the world, and is not yet a full member of society. The interviewer finds Shen Yue's growth moving.
